Med-surg certification review course in your area!

Sponsored by the Northern Illinois Healthcare Education Network

The official AMSN review course, presented by AMSN Faculty, is a two-day course providing an overview of interventions that medical-surgical nurses use to promote quality of life for their clients. Using the nursing process to enhance physical and psychological well-being in clients and their significant others is inherent in the role of the medical-surgical nurse. Taking this course will provide those taking the medical-surgical certification exam with information necessary for success and will include practice exam questions. For those not taking the test, the course provides an excellent review of the body systems and nursing interventions used as well as objective and subjective data to gather.

Betty Jo Ernst is one of the most requested speakers for AMSN. She has lectured on numerous topics in Med-Surg nursing, and is known for her enthusiasm and approachable style.

Adopt-a-School for the Holidays

AMSN Chapter #317 partnered with NMH's Adopt-a-School program at Jenner Academy in Cabrini-Green for the 2nd year in a row.  Our chapter adopted six 13-year-old boys and provided them with new winter coats.  Donations were collected through December 12 and will be delivered to Jenner on December 15.  Through the Adopt-a-School program, NMH employees give clothing, toys, and monetary gifts to children at Jenner ages 4-14 (grades pre-K to 8th grade).  Every year, the NMH family (including AMSN and its member nurses) donates back-to-school supplies in August and holiday gifts and clothing to kids in December.  Over the last 27 years, 11,400 children have been touched by the generosity of Northwestern employees!  We're proud to participate in this holiday tradition!  Thank you to everyone who donated!

Help fight hunger with AMSN's Virtual Food Drive

Join in the fight against hunger by supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository through the AMSN Chapter #317 Virtual Food Drive.  All donations raised through the Virtual Food Drive help the Food Depository purchase nutritious, high-quality food for hungry individuals and families in Chicagoland.

Through the Virtual Food Drive, the Food Depository can purchase food in bulk quantities, at prices well below the market rate.  All of the items on our food drive are high-demand items at the Food Depository.  Please join AMSN in helping provide food for the nearly 142,200 people who rely on the Food Depository each week!
